Hi guys,

Here are my tips for Saturday at Newmarket

14.15 – Newmarket

Gospel Choir having won two group 2s when last seen on the track, is an obvious favourite for this down in grade to a listed race.

Hasn’t been seen for over a year now so that has to be a worry, as he has obviously injuries or problems. But does hold an entry in the irish st leger, so is obviously thought of in very high regard by connections.

Dubday has won group 1 races but they were in Doha. Which don’t quite have the strength in substance as group 1s here in the uk. So does carry a 3lb penalty for winning a group 1 race. Even though on official rating dubday is rated lower than gospel choir.

Gatewood looked to need his seasonal run last time. So we can let him off for that poor run. He is a high class horse in his day and won not so long back easily in france in group 3 company.

Im siding with GATEWOOD for this race as the other two have questions marks over them for me.

14.50 – Newmarket

Katies Diamond is a very interesting prospect for the future. She took to racing like a duck to water. Having been keen early doors at Redcar, before brushing the others aside. This was her first run, so she will also improve more having had a run now. The race she won hasnt shown much strength as the runner in got beat in a seller next time up. So its hard to tell what she actually beat that day.
White bullet did well to finish 3rd first time out in a listed race at York. She was slowly away before staying on well to take 3rd late home. She will be sharper this time and should hopefully jump away sharper to, so she ll have less ground to make up. Also shes going up a furlong today as well, which should only help.
Bournemouth belle is next on the list for possible winners of this race.  She won a nice fillies maiden at Goodwood last time easily enough and is another one who is open to alot of improvement.
Im going for WHITE BULLET in this who showed great promise in listed company first time out and wouldn’t need much more to take this.

15.25 – Newmarket

Hors de combat ran well on reappearance this year at Ascot in a listed race. Before he was well beaten in the lockinge. This represents a drop back down in grade. I think with his help up style the race will need to be run to suit him, how ever he’s a good horse on his day and this may be the perfect opportunity. Both his wins have also been here at newmarket which is a massive plus.

Code Red pulled hard last time at Epsom but still managed to land a listed race. He won well enough in the end, but wont win in group company if he pulls that hard again here. He also carries less weight as he’s a 3 yr old.

Wannabe Yours beat hors de combat in a group 3 last year. But he’s been somewhat disappointing since, he was too keen last time and hampered the start before that. So he does have excuses and definitely has the ability to win this if things fall right for him.

HORS DE COMBAT is my selection for this back at his favourite track and down in grade.
