The award winning singer has co-wrote and recorded the track called Writing’s On The Wall

Sam Smith has recorded Writing’s On The Wall, the theme song to SPECTRE, the 24th James Bond adventure.

The news was confirmed this morning following months of speculation and it marks the first James Bond theme song recorded by a British male solo artist since 1965.
Multi-platinum selling Sam co-wrote the track with fellow Grammy Award winner Jimmy Napes.

Speaking about recording the track a delighted Sam said: “This is one of the highlights of my career. I am honoured to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song.”Capture

“I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of some of my biggest musical inspirations. I hope you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it.”

SPECTRE producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccol said, “Sam and Jimmy have written the most inspirational song for Spectre and with Sam’s extraordinary vocal performance, Writing’s On The Wall will surely be considered one of the greatest Bond songs of all time.”

The song, released by Capitol Records, will debut and be available to purchase and stream on September 25.

Last night Sam- who recently denied he was recording the song -dropped another hint that he was the chosen one by flaunting a ring with the SPECTRE logo – the eight-legged octopus logo from the Special Executive for Counter-Intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion.
The picture came amid reports that the theme song would be revealed on Tuesday morning to coincide with the opening of the ticket pre-sale.

Asked on BBC Radio 2 whether he’s currently working on the 007 music, he said last week: “That’s not me. That’s definitely not me.

“I’ve still got loads to do, I’ve got an Australia tour, but I kind of finish in December which is great, it gives me a chance to be in London, be in my home and go out with my friends.”

Adele’s Skyfall won the James Bond franchise its first ever Oscar as well the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song, the Brit Award for British Single of the Year, and the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media.
