ANOTHER talented singer-songwriter who says he has an exciting year ahead has signed an international management deal with RU:Listening Ltd.

Since an audition for ITV talent show the X Factor in 2012, Josh Daniel, now 21, who hails from Billingham, in Teesside, in the North East of England, has been working hard on his music and songwriting, as well as holding down a job at Audi.

Now Josh has been snapped up by Dubai-based artist management company RU:Listening Ltd, which has an office in Stockton-on-Tees, close to Josh’s hometown, joining fellow talented Teessiders Kerrianne Covell, Bre Musiq, Kim Blair and newcomer Boo.

Josh said: “I’ve worked with Junior Masandi for a long time and when he went to work at RU Listening I hoped he would be able to take me on there.

“With RU Listening, they’ve got so many bases covered to take your career up a step. They’ve just got all the tools needed, so I’m really excited to be joining them.

“I’ve known Kerrianne and Bre for ages. I’ve met RU:Listening boss, Richard, and he’s such a nice, genuine guy. It’s like joining a family.”

Since his X Factor appearance, Josh has supported band Cover Drive and also Tinie Tempah on stage at TFM Soundworks in Middlesbrough.

Josh says that although he’s always played instruments, he hadn’t sung properly until he was at secondary school and was asked to audition for a male role in a school play.

He said: “I hadn’t realised I could sing to be honest. I remember the music teacher being like ‘Oh my God, you can sing!’

“I first met Junior at a talent show at Middlesbrough Town Hall – it was the Stage Star Competition. When I was singing, my microphone cut out and I just had to deal with it and have a bit of craic with the crowd. Junior came up to me and said how well I handled it.”

Josh says he has some exciting things happening in the coming months – some of which he’s not yet able to reveal, adding: “I’ve been writing a lot but haven’t put anything out since 2012, so I’m excited to get back into the recording studio. There are some other things planned too, so it’s going to be a great year.”

RU Group executive chairman Richard Upshall has commented previously on the “unbelievable talent” coming out of the North East.

He said: “I’m delighted to announce the addition of the superbly talented Josh Daniel to the RU:Listening family. We’ve already had Josh perform at an RU:Listening event we hosted recently, where he was very well received by the crowd, and we’re very much looking forward to working with him.”
